1/8 Mile to 1/4 Mile Conversion Calculator
Our 1/8 Mile to 1/4 Mile Conversion Calculator converts your muscle car's eighth-mile elapsed time at the drag strip to quarter-mile ET and vice versa.
What is a 1/8 Mile to 1/4 Mile Conversion Calculator?
Drag strips run two common distances: the eighth mile (660 feet) and the quarter mile (1,320 feet). A conversion calculator turns an elapsed time (ET) from one distance into an estimate for the other, so you can compare cars and passes that were not run on the same length of track.
How Our Conversion Calculator Works
The calculator uses the widely accepted factor of 1.555.
- 1/8 mile to 1/4 mile: multiply your eighth-mile ET by 1.555.
- 1/4 mile to 1/8 mile: divide your quarter-mile ET by 1.555.
For example, a 6.00 second eighth-mile pass works out to about 9.33 seconds in the quarter, and a 10.00 second quarter-mile pass works out to about 6.43 seconds in the eighth. These are theoretical estimates. Real results change with driver skill, track conditions, weather, traction and vehicle setup, and a car that is still pulling hard past the eighth will often do better than the math suggests.
Why Use a 1/8 Mile to 1/4 Mile Conversion Calculator?
- Estimate performance when your car has only been tested at one distance.
- Set realistic goals when you move to a track with a different length.
- Track performance changes over time after new parts or tuning.
