The dynamic Audi Q6 e-tron merges mighty performance from potent engines with state-of-the-art technology integration. System output of 422 hp, two motors provide 375 bhp of driving pleasure during acceleration through all four wheels.

You also speed up the motor nicely to achieve an additional 20 bhp for just a few seconds. The Q6 covers 0 to 62 mph in a mere 4.3 seconds with the new inclusion of its 4.4-kWh battery. The way Q6 steers is great— smooth handling of the vehicle and hence, very smooth rides at this price range.

Q6 is different from other SUVs in terms of handling- as for Macan EVs, the Q6 lacks available rear-wheel steering, and as for Porsche, the Q6 doesn’t have a repositioned rear motor that gives Porsche a strong handling balance.

Q6 Battery, Charging and Range

The Q6 features a lithium ion-based battery with 12 modules and a total of 180 prismatic cells with 15 cells per module in a series. Compared to Q8 which has 36 modules and 432 cells, Q6 has less number of prismatic cells and modules.

A cooling plate is placed between the battery to keep the vehicle in optimized condition. The high performance is due to increased nickel and reduced cobalt content in the battery.

This reduction in battery plates has many advantages, such as less installation space required, being better installed into the car’s crash structure, lesser electrical connection between each module, and the battery requires less cable and high voltage connectors.

There is a battery management controller (BMC) which is a central control unit responsible for current regulation in Q6 e-tron.

Q6 Charging Model

Considering the charging, this model comes with two charging pots, one on each side.  That makes this PPE 95 kWh battery feed on 800 volts rather than the normal 400 volts like the Porsche Tyan and Kia EV9. It means it takes more power in less time.

Now, you may ask how this vehicle can accept 800 volts while the charging station only has 400 volts. The answer is in its two charging pots that get charged parallel with 135 volts on each side without heating up. Audi claims that in 95 percent of the vehicles, energy gets recovered at a rate of 220 k Kow (kilowatts), which symbolizes more range and more coverage.

There are claims from the company that it accepts 270 Kow in 10 minutes and goes from 0 to 80 percent battery in a mere 21 minutes, giving a range of 158 mi and 300 mi, respectively.

Q6 Range

Talking about range, the Q6 Etron offers 388 miles range, which means it covers 388 miles of area when fully charged- more than the Mach-E Extended Range RWD, whose range is 379 miles. With the rear wheel drive, the Q6 has a range of 398 miles, which is amazing.

For this model, Audi developed a high-voltage, completely new battery, making it a perfect fit for everyday use.

Pricing and Safety Features

The pricing for the Q6 e-tron is yet to be announced for American residents. However, it is in the air that it might start between $66,000- $72,000. Prices are more than the Q5- the range of $46,495- $58,895, and it should be because of the latest technology integration, quick charging feature, and the mileage Q6 offers.

Audi integrated the latest safety features to ensure the safety of the drivers and passengers in their Q6.

It has a lane departure warning system to alert the next driver about lane change, an emergency assist system to help in an emergency, an adaptive air suspension feature in a controller adapted automatically, and a proactive passenger protection system for the front, sides, and rear seats where vehicle detect danger and take measures for increased safety. The OLED lighting feature helps in passengers’ safety on the road.

Final Words

The Audi Q6 e-tron may not feel like the Porsche Macan or neither the Hyundai Ionic, but it will give you a ride like no other. You won’t find all-wheel drive, 388 miles range, lithium-ion 95kwh battery, exotic interior, OLED technology, and  8 light customization options in any other EV SUV at this price range. It is a brilliant electric SUV fulfilling all its promises and can be a good choice for any electric SUV cross-over enthusiast.
